Tour of Karamoja
Prologue
I've always been fascinated, even amazed, by the land named "Karamoja"—the land where the old men can walk no further.
As the end of the year approached, my body yearned for rest from the daily grind of balancing full-time employment with attending school.
I didn’t want to rot away in a hotel room somewhere far from home, nor did I actually want to stay at home.
I craved a place where I could completely forget about work and school.
So, I set off on a week-long adventure through the "Land of Warriors" — Karamoja.
Background
My interest in exploring Karamoja was piqued by a book titled "Karamoja - Uganda's Land of Warrior Nomads", a collection of photographs and stories by David Pluth, Sylvester Onyang, and Jeremy O'Kasick.
The book.
I was blown away by the landscape—vastly different from where I come from in the western side of Uganda. The people captivated me, and the thought of encountering Karamojong warriors both excited and terrified me.
As the famous saying goes, "Keep pedaling." I embarked on a journey to cycle through the land—a trip I had spent the last two months preparing for.
My bicycle, loaded with essentials: clothes for six days, toiletries, a laptop, and necessary electronics (chargers for earbuds, camera, extension cord, and phone).
The experience
I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
I decided to help a gentleman collect his rice husks that had scattered amidst Mabira Forest
